Adversarial Authoring
I hate writing. I’m pretty sure I still have PTSD from all those homework assignments to ‘write 250 words on what I did in my holidays’. Even then, I couldn’t see the point of just generating prose for the sake of it. And besides, my family never went on holiday.
Even now, the horror vacui of a blank sheet of paper, or more often a blank screen, sends me into a flurry of displacement activities — sharpening pencils, sorting socks, cleaning the cat — you know the kind of thing. But at last, I have found the solution to my textual agoraphobia: let an LLM write the piece.
Now, don’t get me wrong: I absolutely abhor LLM-authored text. But that is exactly the point. In a few seconds, my blank screen is filled with text that is almost, but not quite, entirely unlike what I wanted to say. But it is filled. My urge to correct this mess is overwhelming. A red mist descends before my eyes as my intended content comes indignantly flowing out of me, pretty much replacing everything the clanker has written.
Som I love LLM content, but not for the reason you’d expect.
